The rank requirements are accumulative, for example the requirements for Captain include the requirements for 1st Lt and below.

Beginning with the rank of Major, in addition to the basic skills (comms, tactics, etc) the pilot also has to have the people skills that allow him to communicate well and get along with others, support the goals of the squad from both a social and gaming standpoint, and generally be the type of guy that others will follow and have fun doing it.

78th Awards
Particpation 90%Participation 67% Participation: Pilot has flown in 90/67% of squad missions for the quarter.  DFC DFC: Awarded for exceptional airmanship or  combat flying.
Tour of Duty Tour of Duty:  Awarded for surviving 25 squad missions or a complete campaign. Combat Cross Combat Cross:  Awarded for demonstrating combat skills of the highest caliber.
Search & Rescue Search & Rescue: Awarded for the successful rescue of a pilot either by C-47 or "piggy-back" in a combat aircraft. Top Flight & Top Flight Runner-up: Flight with the best stats for the quarter.
"Good Times" Good Times: Awarded for funny, comical or other actions resulting in "good times" for the squad. Top Pilot Runner-Up Top Fighter & Top Fighter Runner-up: Pilot with the best stats for the quarter.

Note that pilots must have an minimum attendance rate of 50% to qualify for statistical awards.
